Chief Executive Officer
Philip set up Aqua Africa in late 2013 after following his time in Africa working for 3 years as a commercial advisor to one of Ghana’s leading businessman through investments into the agricultural sector. Philip was instrumental in opening new markets to local produce and the development of distribution channels for the agribusiness, streamlining the logistical supply from ‘field to fork’ through a managed export process chain. This resulted in the delivery of fresh grown chilli peppers from the Volta district in Ghana to Waitrose and Tesco’s in the UK
He carried out this role while concurrently undertaking an Open University course in Environmental Science to secure a better understanding of climate change and the challenges that will affect change to our daily lives. Special interest was set around sustainable development and implementing commercial ventures, understanding the barriers to market entry, asking what has been done and what can be done better and how do you create sustainable legacies.
Philip had previously been in the construction and real estate development sectors where he was Managing Director of Urban Life Developments, a London based company that undertook JV projects in conjunction with ING, Investec, Savills and CBRE with a project value in excess of $120 million. Prior to this, he was Pre-Construction Director and Project Manager for organisations including Kajima Corporation Japan where he worked in Europe & Asia building micro-economies around Kajima’s development projects totalling over $500million. Projects included The Pan Pacific Hotel, Thailand, The Monterey Hotel, Japan, and The London Golf Club, UK.
As the founder and CEO of Aqua Africa, Philip is responsible for strategic planning, business development, client and political liaison and brand development.
